Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

1. The Real Christmas Tree Board is a thing, and other facts you might want to know as we officially enter that time of year. While the season-favorite conifers might not really grow in Brooklyn, Marsha Gray of the Real Christmas Tree Board has assured the borough that its Christmas tree demand will be met in 2022. Last year’s demand for the real-deal was high, and tree-merchants met that demand; this year shouldn’t be any different. The Real Christmas Tree Board website has collected a list of big-name places in Brooklyn to buy Christmas trees, which include the Bed-Stuy Home Depot at 230 Nostrand Ave. and the Lowes at 118 Second Ave. But we know most Brooklynites want to know where the closest tree might be to their apartment. This data isn’t so easily to compile, but a special survey (at the link) might be able to get you some close Christmas tree coordinates.

Patch

2. The future of this year’s marijuana crop might be in danger due to a court fight upstate over dispensary licenses. To date, New York has issued its first 36 dispensary licenses, but the rollout of more could be hindered by a legal battle over the state’s licensing criteria. U.S. District Court Judge Gary Sharpe in Albany blocked the state from issuing licenses in Brooklyn and swaths of upstate New York after a company owned by a Michigan resident challenged a requirement that applicants demonstrate “a significant presence in New York state.” Earlier this week, officials urged the judge to loosen that injunction to prevent jeopardizing a marijuana harvest worth an estimated $1.5 billion, now waiting to be distributed to retailers.

3. Subway riders on the L train were surprised on Tuesday by a mid-ride Thanksgiving buffet. A handful of lucky riders who boarded a rush-hour L train were treated to everything from turkey to sides, provided by Chef Bea from ‘Bea’s Kitchen’ in East New York, Brooklyn. Bea prepared all of the dishes, as well as the event logistics, and Brooklynites gobbled up the delicious commute cuisine.
