New Yorkers Warned To Be On Alert For Russian Cyber Attacks
New York officials are urging individuals and businesses to take cyber security precautions with the war going on between Russia and Ukraine.
The NYPD’s John Miller says the department went from high alert to ultra high alert when it comes to cyber security and has seen an increased number of threats recently.
“We haven’t had any compromises but it hasn’t been for a lack of trying or a lack of a very well built response.”
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand who is on the Intelligence committee is concerned about Russian retaliatory cyber attacks against governments and businesses because of US sanctions against the country. She is urging folks to make strong passwords, update software and be alert for suspicious email links.
“Most cyber attackers aren’t going to break into your accounts, they are going to try and trick you.”
