Subway rider slashed in face with sharp object on Manhattan train during dispute


UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) — A man was slashed in the face during a dispute on a subway train in Manhattan Wednesday.

According to police, the incident happened just before 9:30 p.m. on a southbound 5 train at the Lexington Avenue and 59th Street station.

They say a male passenger was slashed in the face with a sharp object during a dispute.

It’s unknown what the dispute was about.

Authorities say 29-year-old Anthonia Egegbara, of Queens, is now charged with attempted murder.

The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he is expected to survive.

The male suspect was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and fled from the train at the 14th Street station.

No arrests have been made.
