Christina Applegate gains 40 pounds due to MS and can’t walk without a cane

Following her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, Christina Applegate stated she has put on 40 pounds and “can’t walk without a cane.”

The actress, 50, said on Monday of the upcoming third and final season of “Dead to Me,” “This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am.”

Applegate said she is “very aware of” how her mobility and appearance have changed. “I’m never going to accept this,” she admitted. “I’m pissed.”

The Emmy winner continued by stating that she is still not “totally fine” and that she has had to “handle the loss of [her] life.”

Christina Applegate’s battle against MS

The interview came one year after Applegate began sharing her MS battle. The Tony nominee, who has an 11-year-old daughter named Sadie and a spouse named Martyn LeNoble, tweeted in August 2021, “A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS.”

“It’s been a strange journey,” she added. “But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition.”

“As we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a-hole blocks it.” Applegate wrote that she needed “privacy” because she had a “difficult road ahead.

The actress has since avoided the media, but three months later, when celebrating her birthday, she provided an update on her health.

Applegate has recently been preparing for her first public engagement in anticipation of “Dead to Me” returning to Netflix on November 17. Last month, she posted a picture of the walking sticks that have become her “new normal.”
