Those on plane that crashed into building in Keene, NH died, city says

Those that were on a plane that crashed into a building in Keene on Friday have died, according to the city of Keene. Officials announced Saturday that the two people on the plane died.The Federal Aviation Administration told News 9 that a single-engine Beechcraft Sierra aircraft crashed into a building north of the Dillant-Hopkins Airport in Keene before 7 p.m. on Friday. The city of Keene said there were no injuries at the multifamily building but those on the plane died. “The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide additional updates,” the FAA said. Keene Police Capt. Steve Tenney said they are waiting for federal officials to take over the investigation from local authorities.Witness Angel Brown said she saw the crash from her living room.”I heard the plane and then I heard a crash then sirens went into my kitchen to get stuff ready for work and saw the flames from my back window,” Brown said. Scott Gauthier, who lives in the apartment, said his mom yelled at him to get out of the house when the crash happened.”I grabbed some clothes and ran out, and as soon as I ran out, the whole barn area was already engulfed,” Gauthier said.Shaughn Calkins said he was driving by when he saw the fire.”We were probably close to quarter of a mile away, and you could feel the heat from the fire,” Calkins said. “It was billowing, so it was a big fire.” Aerial video of where plane crashed into buildingThe American Red Cross of Northern New England said they have six staffers assisting at the scene.”Our Disaster Action Team is mobilizing, and we are waiting to hear more what specifically the community needs from us,” the Red Cross said in a statement.The Swanzey Police Department posted on their Facebook page that first responders are at the scene of a plane crash with a building fire.The National Transportation Safety Board said it’s investigating the crash.
