Multiple people detained after police activity in Pocket area of Sacramento,

Sacramento police say they detained multiple people in connection Thursday night who were possibly armed, evaded police and hid inside a residential complex.

There were road closures on Florin Road between Riverside Boulevard and Gloria Drive in the Pocket neighborhood, but KCRA 3 Reporter Lee Anne Denyer reports that the scene has since cleared.

Officers around 4:45 p.m. tried to pull over a vehicle near Shoal Court but they did not stop and prompted a chase, the Sacramento Police Department said. The people inside the vehicle then fled and ran into a housing complex that officers now have a perimeter around.

SWAT and crisis negotiators were also at the scene.

A deadly shooting in East Sacramento may have been connected to the police activity in the Pocket neighborhood.

Two witnesses who were at the scene of the East Sacramento shooting gave KCRA 3 descriptions of the suspect vehicle that matched the vehicle Reporter Lee Anne Denyer saw in the Pocket crime scene.
