Trump news latest: Most voters say no to Trump 2024 run as ex-president

Former US president Donald Trump claims he can declassify top secret documents just ‘by thinking about it’

Bad news for Donald Trump this week as a Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that the majority of voters do not think he should run in 2024, given the myriad of legal problems he is facing. His support within the Republican Party has also waned from the bump it received following the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago.

In another court filing by Mr Trump’s legal team, it was revealed that he hoarded some 200,000 pages of federal documents at his Palm Beach home. The filing was to argue that an early October deadline for scanning and reviewing the documents is unrealistic because they cannot be processed quickly enough. There are reports that Mr Trump is ignoring some of the legal advice he is receiving over the matter.

In his other legal news, Mr Trump has avoided a deposition for a long-running class action fraud lawsuit by hunkering down in Florida as Hurricane Ian bore down. A deposition had to be rescheduled as lawyers for the plaintiffs told a New York federal judge the former president would not move the meeting up to his home in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The new deadline for Mr Trump to be deposed is 31 October.
