Vladimir Putin’s remarks are an obvious threat and should be taken “very seriously,” a British deputy foreign minister said Wednesday, expressing concern that the Russian president was losing his grip on the situation unfolding in Ukraine.

“Clearly it’s something that we should take very seriously because, you know, we’re not in control. I’m not sure he’s in control either, really,” Gillian Keegan told Sky News. “This is obviously an escalation,” she said as she noted that some of the language used by the Russian leader was “quite concerning.”
