The red carpet for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards is currently underway, with stars including Lizzo, Blackpink, Jack Harlow and more stepping out for the big night.
Compared with Hollywood’s award ceremonies, the VMAs often see stars letting loose and showing off their personalities, typically choosing more fun, sultry, experimental outfits over formal suits and ballgowns. Fashion history has been previously made by stars such as Lil’ Kim, who stepped out in an one-sleeved purple jumpsuit and seashell nipple pastie in 1999 and Lady Gaga in an infamous meat dress in 2010.
This year’s event, held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will see performances by the likes of Lizzo, Blackpink and Bad Bunny with Nicki Minaj, Harlow and LL Cool J hosting. For keen-eyed celebrity fashion watchers, style darlings including Doja Cat, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo among others who have been nominated for awards this year, could very well shut the “black” carpet down.
This story will be updated throughout the night.
