DRAFT: Blackhawks Select Frank Nazar with No. 13 Overall Pick


With their second pick in the opening round of the 2022 NHL Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks selected Frank Nazar, a forward from the U.S. National Team Development Program, with the No. 13 overall pick. 

Chicago acquired the No. 13 overall pick and the No. 66 overall pick from Montreal during the first round in exchange for forward Kirby Dach. 

Nazar, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of Mt. Clemens, Mich., 105 points (43G, 62A) in 80 total games with the U.S. U18 program last season. He also skated in six games for the U.S. at the U18 World Championships, scoring nine points (3G, 6A) as the Americans took silver. Nazar will attend the University of Michigan in the fall to continue his development. 

After another trade earlier in the evening sending Alex DeBrincat to Ottawa in exchange for the No. 7 overall and No. 39 overall picks this year, plus a third-round pick in 2024, Chicago holds seven more picks in rounds two and three of the 2022 NHL Draft continuing on Friday morning at 10 a.m. on NHL Network.
