Some Memorial Day Steamship Authority ferries canceled
Staffing shortages are creating challenges for holiday weekend travelers looking to travel between the Massachusetts mainland and Martha’s Vineyard.”Due to a crewing shortage, the last two round trips of the M/V Governor have been canceled for this evening, May 30,” the Steamship Authority said in a statement. The Steamship authority says the M/V Governor is one of four ferries making Vineyard trips on Monday. The two canceled trips were scheduled to leave Vineyard Haven at 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.There are other ferries leaving Vineyard Haven at 5:00 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. They hope to be able to accommodate all passengers.”Passengers booked on trips heading from Woods Hole to Martha’s Vineyard have been rebooked.”The Steamship Authority said terminal personnel was working to move vehicles onto earlier trips to create space for our displaced reservations. “We have also temporarily halted online booking on today’s off-island trips,” the Steamship Authority said.
