Blinken, Austin meet Zelenskyy in Kyiv, official says – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio
KYIV, Ukraine — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met Sunday with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, an adviser to the Ukrainian leader said.
The adviser, Oleksiy Arestovych, said in an interview on Ukrainian television Sunday that the talks are going on “right now,” The Associated Press reported.
The meeting came as Ukraine pressed the West for more powerful weapons in its fight against the Russian invasion, which began on Feb. 24.
Two months of heroic nationwide resistance of 🇺🇦 to the Russian aggression have passed. I’m grateful to @POTUS and the people of 🇺🇸 for leadership in supporting 🇺🇦. Today the Ukrainian people are united and strong, and 🇺🇦-🇺🇸 friendship and partnership are stronger than ever! https://t.co/5KzjLDJLVO

Zelenskyy originally spoke about the meeting with the two U.S. cabinet members during a news conference on Saturday. The White House and Pentagon did not confirm Zelenskyy’s remarks on Saturday.
Prior to Sunday’s meeting, Zelenskyy said he was “expecting specific things and specific weapons” from world leaders who visit Ukraine, who come to the country, CNN reported.
