Hawks vs. Cavaliers: Live NBA play-in tournament updates as Atlanta, Cleveland

Buckle up as the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers are battling it out Friday night for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Trae Young and Co. are looking for their second straight postseason berth, while Cleveland tries to return for the first time since reaching the 2018 Finals. The winner moves on to face the top-seeded Miami Heat in the first round. The loser will head into their offseason. With one quarter remaining, we have a real game on our hands as the Hawks have come all the way back to tie things up at 84 apiece entering the final frame.

Coming off a victory over the Charlotte Hornets in their first play-in game, the Hawks now face a Cavs team they defeated three times in four regular-season meetings. Young was hard to slow, averaging 32.5 points and nine assists in the season series. Jarrett Allen, who’s missed time with a broken finger, intends to play, which bodes well for the Cavaliers’ chances in advancing. They are 35-21 with Allen, and just 9-18 without him — including their play-in loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
