Johnny Depp’s multi-million defamation lawsuit against his former wife, Amber Heard, is continuing in Virginia with the cross-examination of the actor’s sister who also acted in part as his business manager.
He claims a 2018 article written by Heard in The Washington Post – in which she spoke about domestic violence towards women – implied Depp, her former husband, was an abuser.
Although the 35-year-old did not name the actor, lawyers for Depp say Heard’s allegations have made it difficult for the 58-year-old to land roles he previously did.
Depp is known for starring in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Sweeney Todd and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Heard has appeared in titles including Aquaman and Drive Angry.
He is asking for $50m (£38.2m) in damages during the trial in Fairfax County’s district courthouse. Heard has meanwhile filed a counterclaim of defamation against Depp, who she divorced from in 2017, for nuisance.
Depp has previously lost a defamation case in the UK against British newspaperThe Sun regarding the claims in Heard’s 2018 article.
Other residents on the top floor included Depp and Heard, her sister Whitney and other friends of Heard’s.

New witness: Isaac Baruch
Isaac Baruch takes the stand. He explains he grew up with Depp when they were teenagers in Florida before the aspiring actor moved to California and Mr Baruch moved to New York.
He later also moved to California where he eventually reconnected with Depp in the mid-1980s and they had mutual friends and played in bands.
By 1993 Mr Baruch became an employee of Depp at The Viper Room nightclub in Los Angeles. He worked there until 199 before moving away.
He then returned to LA in 2002 and went back to working at the club while teaching himself art.
Depp then became interested in the art he was creating and offered to be his patron. In March 2013 Depp moved Mr Baruch into the Eastern Columbia Building, a loft development in Downtown Los Angeles where the actor owned five penthouse units.

Cross-examination of Ms Dembrowski concludes with another text exchange between her and Heard in which she is told her brother is “on a bender” and she asks where the children are.
Two days later Ms Dembrowski texted Depp: “Stop booze, stop pills, stop drugs.”
After a short redirect from Depp’s lawyer, she is excused.
