Fire breaks out at North Hanover Mall in York County

A fire sent huge plumes of black smoke into the air Monday afternoon at the North Hanover Mall in York County.The fire started shortly after 5 p.m. and numerous crews responded. According to Hanover Police Department, the fire started in the HVAC system on the roof of the JCPenney. The fire began to spread from the rubber roof and the metal deck.Hanover Fire Chief Anthony Clousher said strong winds made it difficult to contain the fire.”The smoke was coming off of the roof behind me and it was staying very low,” Clousher said.No one was injured.On Tuesday morning, crews were cleaning up the damage. And they’re looking further into was caused the blaze.
