Traffic Advisory: shoulder closures on Harsha Bridge (US 68) for cable

Motorists should use caution beginning Friday

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) engineers will begin inspecting support cables on the William H. Harsha Bridge (US 68) at Maysville this month.

According to KYTC, inspections will require temporary daytime shoulder closures on US 68 across the bridge beginning Friday, March 4, or by early next week depending on weather.

There should be no direct impacts to travel lanes, but drivers should use caution, heed all warning signs, and drive carefully alongside workers and equipment. According to KYTC, work is estimated to take three to four days to complete.

The inspections, which include a visual check of support cables – the main structural component of the Ohio River crossing – is part of a Transportation Cabinet project to determine what maintenance or repairs are needed on the bridge, according to KYTC.

KYTC says more detailed inspection work is expected this summer.
