Luxon has a lot to consider when allocating roles

Christopher Luxon’s ability to bridge political divides will be tested today, when he announces his shadow cabinet.

He’s due to reveal details of his line up about lunchtime.

The new National leader isn’t expected to give a major role to former leaders Judith Collins or Todd Muller and is expected to keep Nicola Willis on housing, Chris Bishop on Covid, and Erica Stanford on immigration.

Former National cabinet minister Jonathan Coleman told Mike Hosking Luxon has a lot to consider, when allocating other roles.

“He’s got to speak strongly to those core constituencies, you’ve got to have people that appeal to business, farming, middle New Zealand and he has to have credible people in some of those very key portfolios.”
