Duterte endorsement of presidential bet needs PDP-Laban council

THE Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) national council must first give its nod before President Rodrigo Duterte could endorse one of the remaining presidential candidates for the May 2022 polls.

Duterte naming a “chosen one” is highly anticipated following the decision of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go to withdraw from the race to Malacañang earlier this week.

“If there are any decisions to be made, kailangan din po naming idaan sa national council at sa mga miyembro and other officers of PDP-Laban. Abangan na lang po natin (we need to course that through the national council and the members and other officers of PDP-Laban. Let’s just wait and see),” acting presidential spokesman and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said during his public briefing on Friday.

“As far as PDP is concerned, patuloy pa rin ang mga meetings na ginagawa ng leadership ng PDP-Laban (meetings are continuing between the leadership of PDP-Laban),” he said.
