The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continues to monitor two low pressure areas (LPAs) inside the country’s area of responsibility on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 3.

The LPA at 115 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan and the tail-end of frontal system or “shearline” are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Palawan.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during the occurrence of moderate to at times heavy rains.

Weather specialist Ariel Rojas said the LPA off Palawan remains less likely to intensify into a tropical depression and may dissipate in the next 12 to 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Rojas said the LPA at 705 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar also has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical depression as of Wednesday.

Whether the LPA off Eastern Samar intensifies into a cyclone or remains an LPA, Rojas said the weather disturbance may still bring significant rains mostly over the southeastern portion of Luzon and Eastern Visayas in the next few days.

He advised the public to continue to monitor PAGASA’s weather updates regarding these weather disturbances.

In the next 24 hours, Rojas said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms may prevail over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”
