Biden cabinet member to help open Syracuse’s new national veterans center
Washington – One of President Joe Biden’s cabinet members will visit Syracuse University next week for dedication ceremonies to mark the opening of SU’s National Veterans Resource Center.
Isabella Casillas Guzman, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will use the visit to highlight the Biden administration’s commitment to veteran entrepreneurs and military families, an SBA official said Friday.
SU postponed a planned April 2020 grand opening of the national center and its Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello Building due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
SU said the National Veterans Resource Center is a first-of-its-kind facility that will focus on the economic concerns of veterans and their families. The center also will serve as a hub for research and house SU’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families.
The SBA plans to highlight the 1.8 million small businesses owned by veterans next week through its National Veterans Small Business Week program.
