Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after husband found pinned under car in

A Portland woman suspected of driving over her husband and killing him in a grocery store parking lot Friday is facing a murder charge.

Tera A. Harris, 49, has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree domestic violence murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Her husband was identified as Thurston Harris, 48, by police on Saturday night.

Officers found the man pinned under a car in the Fred Meyer parking lot on North Lombard Street in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood about 9 p.m., according to police. Portland Fire & Rescue removed the man from under the car and determined he was dead.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the man’s death a homicide from blunt force trauma to the torso, according to police.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Steve Gandy at Stephen.Gandy@portlandoregon.gov or Detective Jeff Pontius at Jeffery.Pontius@portlandoregon.gov or by calling 503-823-0433. Tipsters should reference case No. 21-238961.
