ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Two South Korean fugitives were arrested in separate operations in Boracay on Friday.

Kwon Yontae, 59, and Lim Seung Il, 39, were apprehended in Barangay Balabag by personnel of the Bureau of Immigration (BI)’s fugitive search unit, Korean National Police Agency and Malay police.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morante issued the mission orders on Thursday.

Lt. Col. Don Dicksie de Dios, Malay police chief, said Kwon was charged with fraud in South Korea while Lim is facing charges for mob assault.

Kwon has been living in Boracay since 2016.

Both Kwon and Lim have put up businesses on the island, which were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two were brought to the Malay police station for documentation before their turnover to the BI for deportation.
