COVID-19 Cases Rise Across the Country Over the Holiday
NEW YORK – The state’s infection rate is nearly at 4%.
The governor’s office says the positive testing rate in the state’s “all focus” zones is 5.65%.
Outside these zones, the state has a positive testing rate of 3.45%.
Overall, the state’s positivity rate is 3.98%.
Almost 3,300 people have been hospitalized in the state due to COVID-19.
Forty-two people across the state died yesterday.
“We continue to take strong action to respond to outbreaks and to stop the spread,” Cuomo said, in a follow-up tweet.
Mayor de Blasio says the seven-day rolling average of positive cases in the city is 3.64%.
There are more than 1,500 new positive cases confirmed and 136 New Yorkers are hospitalized with the virus.
Mayor de Blasio is urging New Yorkers to get a free COVID-19 test this weekend to help the city fight back.
