Deadline approaching to request mail-in ballot
The deadline is approaching to request a mail-in ballot for the upcoming city runoffs, that include the race for El Paso Mayor.
Those wanting to vote by mail in the upcoming runoff elections have until Dec. 1 to request a ballot, according to the El Paso County Elections Department. That’s if you didn’t previously mark runoff or annual ballot on your application for a mail-in ballot.
Election day for the five races on the ballot is Dec. 12. Early voting runs from Nov. 25 through Dec. 8, but polls are closed on Nov. 26-27.
Like in November, voters can cast ballots at any voting site on election day and during the early voting period.
Candidates headed into a runoff if a single candidate did not secure more than 50% of votes on Nov. 3.
Candidates for El Paso mayor, city representative district 2, city representative district 4, municipal court No. 4 judge and municipal court of appeals judge are on the ballot.
According to the Elections Department, those eligible to vote by mail are:
- People 65 or older
- Those out of the country on election day and during the early voting period.
- Those who are ill or disabled
- Those who are in jail but eligible to vote
